Fruit of the Loon…. Creative Posting

With a toothpick in his mouth..a cross between a Dietrich cigarette and an Eastwood reed in ..The Good, The Bad & The Ugly....Dick sat back smugly in his stark wooden armchair. The five guests, all five to ten years younger, listened with an eagerness reminiscent of...

The Philadelphia Flyers Flunk

Well, the Flyers may be hoping to gain something out of the last few games of the season: early rest? I have a feeling that there are few friends of mine in Montreal who are laughing at my expense these days... all I can aspire for is that the Flyers capitalize on the...

Freedom — another view?

Furrowing through an old newspaper lying about ("thelondonpaper" 21 Feb 2007), I read an article entitled "Pupil loses veil battle." This polemic subject (integrating Muslims in Western cultures) is certainly grounds for much heated debate and one feels that one has...

Virutouso Musician Playing Shostakovich

Had the pleasure of attending a concert in Prague with the Czech Philharmonic this week. The performance consisted of three set pieces of which two featured the cello virtuoso Alexander Knjazev (conductor: Stephane Deneve) and finished with two encore's. The main...

Tennis versus Golf — playing through the ages

Computer Geek TBC LOL

I am wondering whether I will achieve Geek status... Somehow I missed out on thinking it was an attractive moniker in the old days. Today, I am not so sure. At the very least, I might not get lost when the kids rotate from one game to another or gravitate to more...

Flyers’ Fo(u)rsberg Traded

Ten days before the trade deadline and about twenty days since Forsberg finally looked like he had found a skate that worked (enough for him to participate at a level close to his capacity), the Philadelphia Flyers complete the trade. The one-for-four trade seems like...

Promoting France – good news/bad news

I read with some amusement, the International Herald Tribune (Jan 26 2007) advertising section promoting doing "business in France." A front page article--an interview of Philippe Favre, Chairman of Invest in France Agency--caught my attention. To the question, "What...
