Norway – Greening of the Prison

Following my last post, (How Green Are You?), on the topic of being green, going to have to give a plug for our Norwegian friends, whose government have decided to render Bastoey, one of its low security prisons, "ecologically friendly." The 115 inmates get an...

How green are you? An ecometer concept…

As the ecological movement goes mainstream, it occurred to me that we might benefit from a protocol to establish how much each individual is eco-friendly. Not that I am wanting to flush out the hypocritical bobos or 'gauche caviar' profiles...but it could be as much a...

RWC 2007 Pools Starting to Dry Up

The Tongan "close call" against the Springboks was another exciting game up to the half, with South Africa leading 7-3 in a parsimonious affair. Then, a breakthrough from Tonga that saw them leading 10-7. The South Africans brought in some first stringers to bring the...

I mentioned in a prior post that on-line activity in elections was heating up (Turkey, for example). The elections of the future can and will be decided by the online campaigning. In the pursuit of open debate, we can hope to see lots of online chatting, blogging,...

Scroogled by Cory Doctorow

Well, I have been touting the fact that our on-line presence will become our CV in the future. Cory Doctorow has another spin that is wholly mind blowing. I'd summarize the story as Orwell meets The Matrix...on speed. SCROOGLED. A long read on a computer screen, but a...

News media being remodeled…as we speak

The two-second news spot? As if the 24-second spot weren't condensed enough (thanks CNN), we now seem to be moving into nano-news era. On top of that, via services such as blogs, Twitter, wikipedia and others, the proliferation of news services and sources seems to be...
