Minter Dialogue with Leonydus Johnson

Leonydus Johnson is a man of many talents. For starters, he’s a speech language pathologist. He’s also a hip-hop artist, film writer, director and actor. Further, he’s the host of the mightily popular and well noted Informed Dissent podcast that digs in on many hot-button topics. He’s also a writer on Substack and author of the new book, “Raising Victims: The Pernicious Rise of Critical Race Theory” (Salem Books, 2023). In this conversation, we discuss his journey to launching Informed Dissent and his book, the role of art and music in his life and work, some of the key components and concepts in his book, such as identity, community, CRT and hostile attribution bias, the state of society and some of the big issues of our day.

Please send me your questions — as an audio file if you’d like — to nminterdial@gmail.com. Otherwise, below, you’ll find the show notes and, of course, you are invited to comment. If you liked the podcast, please take a moment to rate it here.

Music credit: The jingle at the beginning of the show is courtesy of my friend, Pierre Journel, author of the Guitar Channel. And, the new sign-off music is “A Convinced Man,” a song I co-wrote and recorded with Stephanie Singer back in the late 1980s (please excuse the quality of the sound!).
