Having spoken to a number of ‘players’ in the digital space, I was very disappointed to hear that there was no way to stay up-to-date easily on who’s talking on your Facebook fan page(s). However, thanks to my handy Google search, GOOD NEWS! It turn out that the service DOES exist. Enter NutshellMail. Nutshellmail will push you via a customized mail, all in a nutshell the latest activities on a number of your different social media networks.

Are we there yet? Companies ‘saying’ they are web 2.0 need to show it
Companies that tout that they are “2.0” or are ‘working hard’ to become enterprise 2.0 should beware. It is painfully obvious from the outside which companies have truly espoused the Internet 2.0 mentality. Furthermore, for the younger employees, saying you are there when you are clearly not is, at best, disheartening. At worst, it will keep the better talent away.
France loves to strike where you least expect
Got to love this. Pôle Emploi, the agency in charge of dealing with the unemployed (currently riding at 9.7% in France) is going on strike. Not enough resources to go around they claim, and now they are planning job cuts for 2011. Pole Emploi will, in effect, add to...
The Beta Myndset – Launch and Iterate
One of the most revolutionary marketing tools to come to the surface recently is the beta launch. Essentially, a product is “pre-launched” as a beta version and, as a consequence, errors are to be anticipated and feedback is openly accepted. It is a great tactic, borne of the software industry (mentality), which carries with it no deadline. A product can remain in beta phase eternally.
I believe there is something to be learned for all companies. Taking a page out of Google’s strategy, it is all about launch and iterate. Launch, learn & improve. In this vein, I would like to suggest that companies learn to adopt the beta myndset.
FEVAD President Francois Momboisse – eCommerce In France
Attended a most interesting INSEAD breakfast presentation last week by François Momboisse, President since 2002 of the FEVAD (the association covering eCommerce and distance selling in France). François is also head of international digital operations for the FNAC (a leading retailer of high tech and cultural goods). Herewith a little state of the e-business in France.
The Brand University – How to make a sustainable, successful brand
“The Brand University”, an article published on the BrandChannel site.
The world of branding has undergone a very real revolution as far as both the consumer and the employee are concerned. The challenge that companies are now facing is how to adapt to several convergent paradigm shifts. To this end, brands might consider instituting a Brand University as a compelling way to accompany such a change.
Tweet Tweet : The pulse of the game. You pheel the Phillies!
Reading up on the Philadelphia Phillies series against the SF Giants, I came across the Major League Baseball’s “twitter meter,” an absolutely stunning way to follow the game (via the twitter stream) and to encourage audience participation. The Phillies won on the field and the fans won in the tweeternometer. There are a number of take-aways for business…

The Greying of the World – Enough to make you go grey!
The forecast of the aging of the world is quite mesmerizing. If the six lines in this snapshot graphic from the IHT are all sloping upward, the two that truly get my attention are the near meteoric rises of China and Japan, with China’s acceleration starting now. If India, China and Japan all had around 7-8% of their population over 60 years old in 1950, that number will be 20% for India, 31% in China and 44% in Japan just one hundred years later. Note that France will lie just above China, second in this list of six countries…
Private Lives on Show – The privacy debate is strategic
The issue of privacy is a little schizophrenic. In any event, it is capital and worldwide in scope. We all say we want privacy, and yet we do not want to be treated as a number. For businesses to provide us with customized and relevant offers that make us feel like VIP customers, they need to know our data. At its core, the issue of privacy is one of trust.
